How to get there

How to get from the airport to Milan

Each time, one of my friends and acquaintances gather to visit me, I prepare detailed instructions “How to get from the airport to Milan and back”. And even if a person is for the first time in Italy, without knowledge of Italian and English, the road is very easy. The main thing is to have the necessary information that I would like to share with you.

So, to begin with, there are three airports in Milan: Bergamo (Bergamo Orio al Serio), Malpensa (Malpensa) and Linate (Linate). All of them are located in the Milan district at a distance of about 50 kilometers. And each of them has a well-functioning communication system, thanks to public transport such as trains and buses.

Search cheap flights to italy conveniently on the service aviasales.ru. Please note that aviasales does not sell tickets, but only helps you find the best option.

Direct flights from Moscow to Milan are operated by Aeroflot, Pobeda and UTair. I advise you to read tips on choosing an airline.

I would like to consider the bus services and advise you to use them, since the railway in Italy is known for its strikes and, therefore, does not guarantee constant communication. The organization of bus transfers is so practical that even the inhabitants of Milan prefer to leave their cars and use the transfer services. Departure from Milan takes place at one of the parking lots of the railway station in Piazza Luigi Savoia.

If you prefer a more comfortable option or arrive late in the evening, we recommend using the KiwiTaxi transfer and taxi search service.

Book a transfer to Milan from the airport:

  • Bergamo - from 86 euros
  • Malpensa - from 80 euros (taxi drivers have a fixed rate of 95 euros)
  • Linate - from 50 euros

Consider each airport separately.

Bergamo Airport

Upon arrival at the Aeroporto di Bergamo-Orio al Serio international airport, also known as Bergamo, you just need to leave the airport building and you will immediately see several buses in the parking lot offering transfer services for 7 euros.

See detailed instructions with photos.Your task is to find a bus on the Milano Centrale, that is, to the Milan train station. And this is where the difficulties end. Flights are carried out on average every 30 minutes for a whole day, with a break only from 00.00 to 4.00 nights.

To save money, I advise you to pre-book bus tickets for 6 euros on the official website www.terravision.eu

Official airport website: www.orioaeroporto.it

You buy a ticket directly from the driver. The cost since 2019 is 7 euros one way or 13 euros both ways. And in an hour you will be in Milan.

The return journey to Bergamo Airport begins with the parking of the railway station, where all the buses are located. The scheme of ticket purchase and departure is identical to that described above. See the detailed video instruction:

Malpensa Airport

Malpensa Airport is international and as a result, it is the largest in size, relative to the other two airports, and offers transfer by train and bus. You can find a bus in the parking lot in front of the airport, choose the direction to Milano Centrale, buy a ticket from the driver, the cost of which is 10 euros one way and 16 euros both ways, and you ride comfortably to the Milan train station. Travel time is about an hour. The frequency of trips is every 20 minutes.

The return road from the railway station. Be careful when choosing a bus, because there will be buses in the direction of 3 airports.

Linate Airport

Linate Airport has the largest number of transportation options, due to the fact that this airport is located closest to the city. You can catch a bus to Milan Train Station in the parking lot in front of the airport. The ticket costs 4 euros, the journey time is 30 minutes, and the departure frequency is every 30 minutes.

The return road starts again from Piazza Luigi Savoy (railway station).

With this instruction you can make sure that the bus transfer is very comfortable and practical, so if you want to save money, you can safely fly to Milan without booking a transfer in advance and not overpaying for a taxi.

P.S. All buses offer Wi Fi after a simple check-in.
