The Italian restaurant where Tiramisu was invented closes

It seems that one of the most popular desserts will soon become an orphan. Restaurant Alle Becchiere in Treviso, where he was born tiramisuclose up.

However, according to another version, it was not the Becchiere Treviso masters who invented the most delicate delicacy, but the small Vetturino Pieris store located in another region of Italy. A peculiar "paternity" should be established by the local court.

Restaurant owner Carlo Campeol personally announced the closure of the institution. “On March 30, I will make all payments to my three employees, settle accounts with suppliers and close this place forever.”

That is how the story ends, the beginning of which was laid back in 1939. Carlo is the son of Alba and Aldo Campeol, who, together with renowned chef Roberto “Loly” Linguanotto, developed a special recipe that includes biscuit, coffee and mascarpone, and gave it name tiramisu (tiramesù).

“This dessert was born relatively recently,” recalls Campeol. “For the first time, tiramisu was offered in the Alle Becchiere restaurant, and it was prepared under the guidance of the great confectioner Roberto Lingvanotto, who acquired all his skills in Germany.

Tiramisu, nutritious and refreshing, immediately gained popularity in Treviso, later other restaurants of the city began to copy it, adding new zest to the original recipe.

And soon, the rumor about this dessert went beyond the Veneto region and swept across the country. And I should note that today the name “tiramisu” carries some prestige and importance. ”The whole virtuoso talent of Lingvanotto was in his special ability to correctly connect the components. And it was their unique combination that allowed the cook to become famous throughout the world. “In the seventies, he created an amazing cake, using very simple ingredients,” added Carlo.

The decision to close Alle Becchiere its 60-year-old owner took not so long ago. According to some reports, Campeol simply could not ensure the prosperity of the popular dessert field, bogged down in financial problems.

Many restaurant critics suggest that the restaurant will cease to exist, as it lost its former gloss and prestige, and also significantly lost its position in the ratings of culinary guides. The head of the Veneto region of Italy, Luca Zaia, commented on the news, noting: “This event, which I don’t want to know, means not only the end of a certain history of the city of Treviso, but also the whole gastronomic culture.”

However, not all nutrition experts are ready to agree that the creation of a beloved tiramisu is the merit of the cook Lingvanetto. Many sources and factors indicate that for the first time this delicate dessert was prepared much earlier - back in the 18th century - specially commissioned by the Tuscan Duke Cosimo III Medici (Cozimo III Medici). However, then he had a different name: Zuppa del duca (ducal). However, the exact composition of the sweets historians have not been able to clarify, therefore, questions about the true creator of tiramisu are still being held.
