How to buy cheap flights to Italy

Going on vacation, I would like to plan a trip so that everything would be convenient, economical and simple. The first question is the dilemma - how to buy cheap flights to Italy, and indeed anywhere? Cheap tickets are always few, and they are bought up like hot cakes by those who have already mastered the Internet, like in their living room. And I am still surprised by the fact that not everyone knows the way to search for cheap flights, which will be discussed in this post.

Airline Price Comparison Systems

Today it is not a problem to book a ticket in a selected direction through the websites of agencies or the airlines themselves. But getting the most complete information on them is not so simple. Agencies often specialize in large airlines: they often redeem discount tickets from them in bulk, sell them cheaper than the carriers themselves, and do not pay attention to low-cost airlines at all.

Everyone may have heard that it is possible to buy tickets much cheaper, but having spent a lot of time searching the sites of online agencies, he never finds them. Agencies often do not "see" them, since low-cost airlines do not very much like to pay for what they are able to sell themselves.

Whether it’s the case, specialized search engines that search and compare prices at once for many agencies and airlines, and finding them, make it possible to instantly buy. As a rule, such a search allows you to simultaneously find a cheap hotel at the end point of the route, but this, as they say, is a completely different story.

Personally, I managed to try several specialized search engines, until I finally decided on Aviasales.ru

Recommendations for finding cheap flights to Italy through aviasales.ru

Aviasales.ru is a convenient and powerful search engine that, at the time of writing this post, could simultaneously search for the best airfare for a given point at 728 airlines, 15 agencies and 5 booking systems. You can try the service right now by entering the necessary data in the form below. Or, if you like, do the same on the site of the search engine itself here.

You need cheap flights to Rome? Select the city of departure and arrival, enter the desired dates, and the system will select the best price from all the monitored offers. Alternatively, you can use a flight with a transfer - often this is even cheaper. I try, whenever possible, to choose transplants with a delay of no more than 4 hours - they are easy to filter out in the convenient system interface.

If you fly to Rome, then take note that cheaper than Fiumicino airport, you may find tickets to nearby Ciampino. If you look cheap flights to Milanthen you can see flights to Malpensa, Orio Al Serio and Linate. The logic is similar in the search for tickets to other destinations, too.

But that is not all. Flights to Italy can be cheapened even more if you know a few "secrets":

  • As a rule, the earlier you buy a ticket, the cheaper it costs
  • If you are flexible in terms of departure dates, pay attention to flights on neighboring days: the difference in ticket prices can refuse to be significant
  • Tickets for morning or evening flights are often cheaper than day tickets. Also mid-week flights are usually cheaper than weekends.
  • Check out all the options found by other travelers in the Airline Pricing section.
  • Choose flights of low-cost airlines: discounters sell tickets at good discounts, which is achieved by reducing service costs. However, if you bought such tickets, then re-read the conditions of carriage of passengers. There may be certain restrictions.
  • Pay special attention to the Best Price Card. It allows you to quickly assess the benefits of flying to certain airports in any direction.

Mobile App

Already at the very end of 2012, Aviasales took another step towards air travelers. Now in the Appstore and Google Play, applications are available that will allow you to embed a “smart search” of tickets directly into your “device”. In more detail we wrote about it here.

I hope this post has been helpful to you. After all, when you are going on vacation, you don’t want to give the lion's share of the budget to the carrier. It is much better to spend them on the spot for new experiences. If the main impression is not a flight, of course :) Otherwise, cheap flights to Italy are unlikely to help you :)

Trastevere district in Rome

You can see Rome as it is depicted on glossy postcards while walking in the center. The city looks completely different in the eyes of an indigenous resident who has lived his whole life in the Trastevere area. Located on the right bank of the Tiber River, this part of the capital retained the features of the former city: winding ribbons of streets, small restaurants, ordinary people immersed in their own affairs.
