In 1239, Frankfurt Cathedral was built under the name Kaiserdom, which later became the permanent place of coronation of rulers. Here the kings of the Holy Roman Empire were entrusted with the crown; from 1562 to 1792, 10 coronations of the Kaisers of Germany took place.
